What I have never understood is embellishment diving calls always are washed with the original call against the other team. How does this make sense? If the player dives or embellishes the penalty then why is there a penalty in the first place? Sure seems if the NHL really wants to get this crap out of the game then shouldn't the "divers" truly be penalized. Now this season may have been different in terms of the offsetting calls but given the NHL's history I have my doubts

Was our second infraction supposed to be Markus Granlund, or Mikael Backlund? I think it was Granlund.

I know I've seen a pretty healthy number of embellishment calls this year that left me scratching my head.

As with all NHL "crackdowns" it seemed very much that refs had been instructed to make the call a lot more, so they did... whether it was a dive or not.

Good catch. It's fixed, and it's Granlund.

Yeah, I understand technically there could be a trip but the player getting tripped goes into superman mode. I agree though, they should do something like an extra 2 to the embellishing player, or a misconduct.

I don't think NHL discipline is necessarily that related to on ice calls. Plenty of embellishment calls I've seen were questionable at best; and lots of obvious dives have been gotten away with. With that in mind, there are too few calls to balance for that in order to brand teams, divisions, or individuals using penalties as your metric.

Your info is not accurate, Marchand was advised by the NHL office that both of his embellishment calls had been recinded after leaque review. Murphy made this statement to Marchand directly during a taping of Behind the Bs when he and two other Bruins were visiting the league office in Toronto.

The list is the embellishment calls that were made. He was called for them in-game and they're on the boxscores, which is where the list came from.

The act of embellishment currently resides with the Refs. I would like to see something insituted that would give the war room the right to reverse the call. I'vd seen some of the embellishment calls and its always what the refs perceive as being embellished. They are not always right. I would think if you're going to penalize a player and put their names on the Wall of Shame that it should be reviewable after the fact.

Just threaten to place the the players in a room with Shea Weber/Zdeno Chara and no cameras. Problem solved.

The war room does have the right to recind the call, as I stated in the above post. Both of Marchand's embellishment calls were recinded, Murphy told Marchand that during a taping of Behind the Bs, which can be seen on the Bruins web site. I would prefer accurate info be published, the league would have all the calls that have been recinded and would be easy to access with some effort. What looks like embellishment is not always the case.

I get that, but with the league office recinding some of these calls would your info not be more accurate to list those who actually did "dive" and it was confirmed after review, otherwise, what you have posted is suspect at best.
